With more than 23 years of experience across manufacturing, pharmaceutical, and industrial environments, he has built his career around making digital transformation both secure and practical.
Turning Technology into Business Resilience
Dr. Rahim’s perspective was shaped by a career that began with a strong interest in servers, networks, and infrastructure. Over time, his understanding evolved: technology matters most when it protects people, strengthens operations, and helps organizations remain dependable under pressure.
The COVID-19 pandemic reinforced that philosophy. While supporting a global pharmaceutical organization, he led cybersecurity operations around critical manufacturing environments, overseeing activities including Security Operations Center operations and third-party cyber-risk assessment. Protecting the systems behind essential production gave cybersecurity a direct connection to a larger human purpose.
Today, his responsibilities include supporting secure operations across 11 manufacturing plants and two R&D centers. Among his notable contributions are establishing an Operational Technology and Information Security function and leading the successful implementation of ISO 27001.
Building Trust on the Shop Floor
For Dr. Rahim, digital transformation begins with people—not technology.
He learned this while modernizing manufacturing environments where established practices had been followed for decades. Rather than imposing change from the top, he spent time with operators and engineers, listened to their concerns, and used their practical knowledge to improve solutions.
This approach also shaped his leadership during ISO 27001 implementation. Instead of treating compliance as a checklist, he encouraged employees to take ownership. The lesson was straightforward: people are far more willing to embrace transformation when they feel included in creating it.
Security Should Enable Innovation
Dr. Rahim sees the future of manufacturing developing through technologies such as artificial intelligence, predictive maintenance, digital twins, real-time analytics, cloud-connected production, and closer OT-IT integration.
Yet technological progress must be supported by appropriate security. He advocates a risk-based approach in which organizations implement controls that address genuine threats without creating unnecessary complexity. In his view, excessive controls can increase costs, frustrate employees, slow projects, and ultimately encourage workarounds.
The objective is not maximum security at any cost. It is the right security for the right level of risk.
Developing Leaders, Not Just Systems
Dr. Rahim’s leadership philosophy extends beyond cybersecurity. His “Shadow Lead” approach pairs every project’s primary leader with a shadow leader, encouraging knowledge transfer, succession planning, and continuous development.
He measures leadership not simply by personal achievements, but by the growth of the people around him. His commitment to continuous learning, mentoring, professional certifications, speaking engagements, and knowledge sharing reflects the same philosophy.
