The Justice Department won the lengthy legal battle brought by the Biden administration against the airlines’ cooperation after U.S. District Judge Leo Sorokin decided in their favor. The Justice Department filed the complaint in 2021, stating that the two businesses increased costs and limited options for travelers flying to and from important Northeastern destinations including Boston and New York City.   American Airlines puts an end to its saver award charts, moves to dynamic pricing American Airlines puts an end to dynamic pricing is shaking up its loyalty program by phasing out its traditional frequent flyer award chart and implementing dynamic pricing for mileage redemptions. The new system will be called “Flight Awards,” and American will publish starting levels for how many frequent flyer miles are likely required to redeem for a ticket in certain regions. This shift means that redemption levels will now be based on supply and demand, with prices fluctuating accordingly.
