  This week, WhatsApp unveiled a brand-new automatic call-speciation function intended to block suspected scam calls. In order to counteract an increase in unsolicited calls, the function, which is labeled simply “ silence unknown callers ” in the WhatsApp settings menu, is adding an additional layer of security to calls and messages from unknown numbers. Automatically Screen Out Spam The new feature, which went live on Tuesday in all countries, will “automatically screen out spam, scams, and calls from unknown people,” according to a news release from WhatsApp. According to Reuters, a 2021 Truecaller  analysis  indicated that WhatsApp users in India were among the most afflicted, with an average of 17 spam calls each month.
